During P.E. this week, students competed in a cooperative game called “Boiling Peanut Butter Pit” with the goal to get their entire team from one side of the gym to the other without touching the floor and using the equipment given. There were many awesome examples of teamwork, communication, and problem solving!

We were excited to host the Girls Excelling in Math tournament at Walker on Saturday!!  This tournament involved teams from across the area, including teams from Albemarle County Schools as well as private schools.  Walker furnished 6 teams in the tournament this year, and participants spent the last few weeks after school practicing math and hands-on challenges to get ready for the big day!!  Walker 6th grader Kaitlyn Sun and 5th grader Alyson Romero were finalists in the Lower Division's Individual Challenge. Kaitlyn placed fifth in the Lower Division out of almost 200 girls!!  Congratulations to Kaitlyn, Alyson, and all of our Walker participants!!

We had an amaaaaazing evening celebrating Black Joy on Thursday evening!!  Many thanks to Ms. Howard and all of the folks who made this event happen!!  Below are pictures of some student performances, and here is a video of Azariah + Harmony performing their oratorical piece!

1.  Walker Family Life letter and Zoom - Please see this letter from our P.E. team regarding the upcoming Family Life Education unit that will take place in our P.E. classes in the coming weeks.  This unit follows the Virginia Standards of Learning for Family Life.  If you choose to opt your child out of this unit, please contact the P.E. team directly.  We will be holding a Zoom to answer any questions that you may have on W 04.09.25 at 7pm via this Zoom link.

2.  Bingo for Books Night is coming!! - Our Bingo for Books Night is coming up on R 04.10.25!!  We’re advertising now, since that is the week after Spring Break (and everyone knows that week is crazy).  Please see this flyer for more information!!  Also, please RSVP via this link so we have an idea of how much food to order!!  If you need transportation and/or are willing to provide transportation to another family, please sign up via this link.
